Ultimate Kho Kho Rules

Ultimate Kho Kho Rules list updated with every minute details possible as below. These rules are introduces in National Kho Kho coaching Camp for high performance assessment and scientific analysis in January 2021.
We have updated Ultimate Kho Kho Rules and we will try to keeping it update frequently. 

1.      TEAM COMPOSITION

A team consists of 15 players, one Coach, one Assistant Coach, one Manager and other supporting Staff. 09 Chasers and 12 runners will take the field at the beginning to start the match.

2.      DURATION OF THE MATCH

A match will be played in 02 innings. An Inning will consist of Chasing and Defense turns which shall be of 07 minutes each. There shall be an interval of 3 minutes after an Inning and 2 minutes break between two turns. Total duration of a match will be of 4 turn which makes it 28 minutes.

3.      RULES FOR DEFENSE

A.     Before commencing of the turn, the Captain/Coach of both teams shall give the name & Uniform number of substitute players and 02 Wazirs at the beginning of the match to scorer-1.

B.     The Coach of the defending team will also intimate the scorers the initial sequence of all 12 Runners.

C.      The first 3 Runners shall enter in the Court in a batch of three for their Defense.

D.     As soon as the first defender is declared out, he will be allotted the sequence no. 13, if he have to enter in the field during their defense and this process will be implemented to all the defenders till the match is over.

E.      As soon as the 1st Defender is declared out, the sequence no.4 will enter in the field. This procedure will be followed after each Defender is declared out. 03 defender should be inside the court all the time. This rule has been changed, 3 defenders or Batch 1 once get all out, 3 more defenders come to ground as batch no2. If there is still time left on clock Batch 3 of 3 defenders come to the ground. 

F.      The last 03 Defenders who remain not out during 1st turn will continue in the 2nd turn and rest of the sequence of Defenders will remain the same. Rule Changes: The last batch of defender which is BATCH 4 gets out, the attackers get Full On Chase point. 

G.     Only 01 runner is allowed to stand in the Entry Zone as per his sequence/order. Each side shall enter its Runners to the Court through their Entry Zone only. Rule Changed: If Batch 1 gets out, Batch 2 needs to be ready and as soon as last player of Batch 1 gets out, all three defender of Batch 2 will take place on the ground. 

H.     If a Defender is declared out by showing Red Card by the Referee, a substitution is allowed to defending side. Substitute (ignoring) players shall enter in the field in the same place/sequence no. of substituted (outgoing) players. Rule Changed: If all 4 Batch of defender gets out, Batch 5 will come in the ground if time is still left on the clock.

I.       After every Defender is declared out, there will be a 05 Second break and the play will begin again from the nearest post. Rule Changed: There is break time after a batch of defender gets eliminated. 

J.       The substitution is allowed anytime with permission of the Referee. Rule Changed: Substitution is only allowed if their is injury of a Kho Kho player on ground.

4.      POWER PLAY rules in Kho Kho

A.     Power play is a period of 01 minute in which the both the Wazirs can play the game during the Chasing only. Rule Changed: In powerplay two wazir can play in any attacking turn but only for a single batch of defender. After a batch of defenders gets out, the powerplay is over.

B.     Only 1 power play is allowed to both the teams. Power play can be taken in the 1st inning only.

C.      Power Play is allowed immediately after 06 minutes is over of the chase.

D.     Power Play is allowed by the Referee only if requested by Captain of the chasing team.

5.      WAZIR : Ultimate Kho Kho New Rules

The rules of the wazir in Kho Kho will be as follows:

A.     Wazir will wear the uniform contrasting the color of other team players.

B.     All the rules of an Attacker except crossing the Centre Lane & Simultaneous Kho will not be implementing on Wazir during his chase.

C.      During the defense he will play in first 06 sequence no. of Runners (applicable in 1st Inning only).

D.     Wazir will be substituted by a Wazir only.

E.      One Wazir will play the game at one time only (except power play).

6.      BONUS POINT Rules in Kho Kho

A.     Chasing Side
The Chasing side will get one bonus point for each Defender who is declared out by executing the following skill:
Rule changed: 3 points each for pole dive and sky dive

                                                           I.           Pole Dive

                                                          II.          Sky Dive*

B.     Defense Side
The Defending side shall also get 01 bonus point if:
Rule Changed: Defenders will get 2 bonus point if they do a dream run of 2 and half minute. And if he survives further 30 second he will get 2 more dream run bonus point.

                                                           I.           Active Defender plays more that 3 minutes. Rule Changed: Dream Run is introduced, if defender survives for 2 minute 30 second, he will score 2 points for that dream run. And after this every 30 second will be considered a dream run.

                                                          II.          If any of the runner of First Batch remains Not Out till the chasing side get 06 successful out given by the Referee/Umpire. As soon as the chasing side scores their 07th successful out other than the runner of First Batch, the defending side will get 1 bonus point and it continues till all 3 runners of 1st batch declared out (Applicable in 1st inning only). Rule changed: No applicable any more.

7.      REVIEWS rules in Kho Kho Match

02 Reviews will be allowed for both the teams.

A.     Chasing as well as Defending Side can take reviews within 5 seconds of the action for which they want to review.

B.     Team Captain / Active Defender / Attacker in Kho Kho match can request the Match Referee for Review.

C.      Chasing Side Review: If the decision of Chief Referee/TV Referee comes in favor of chasing side, the Defender will be given Out and they will get one point.

D.     Defending Side Review: If the decision of Chief Referee/Tv Referee comes in favor of Defending side, the Defender will be given Not Out.

E.      If the review request remains successful, then the number of review option will not be forfeited.

8.      TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

The following 10 technical officials will be deputed to conduct a Match according to new ultimate Kho Kho rules.

A.     1 Chief Referee/Tv Umpire

B.     1 Referee (on field)

C.      2 Umpires

D.     2 Post Umpires*

E.      1 Scorer

F.      1 Assistant Scorer

G.     2 Time Keeper

Rest of the Ultimate Kho Kho Rules will be the same as written in the Kho Kho rule book below.

Note:
* The attacker’s body should be stretched full in the Air before touching the Defender.
* The Post Umpires shall help the Referee/Umpires to do the real time judgement when the Active Defender and Attacker both are near the post.
